latest Chevrolet cars in uae features

chevy-malibu
There was a time when General Motors poured all their resources into developing full-size 4x4s such as the Chevy Tahoe. The U.S. operation had pretty much sidelined the sedan market, churning out midsizers so embarrassingly bad that they turned to their Australian and Korean outfits when it came time to expand the GCC line-up. But as Americans started to give up their ever-hungry trucks for fuel-efficient cars, the General came up with the all-new “award-winning” Chevy Malibu.
2009-chevrolet-malibu-dubai-uae
The Malibu nameplate was last seen in the UAE half-a-decade ago, not that anyone here remembers, although it did continue in the States. It is back here again, skipping a generation, and finally on level footing with the Japanese competition, maybe even better in some aspects.
2009-chevrolet-malibu-dubai-uae-3
The front end incorporates the most attractive form of the Chevy grille yet, and the best implementation of the big-mouth look made popular in recent years among various manufacturers.
2009-chevrolet-malibu-dubai-uae-2
For one thing, it looks stunningly upscale for something that competes against the Camry and the Accord. Those 18-inch alloys are standard, and that low-slung roofline resists the latest fad to make cars taller.
2009-chevrolet-malibu-dubai-uae-5
The V6 version is identified by its dual exhaust tips. The rear end is fairly unique, even if some may see hints of other cars in it. Check out the chrome number-plate holder.
2009-chevrolet-malibu-dubai-uae-4
In fact, the car is littered with chrome, more so than maybe even a Cadillac. Door handles, window frames, and even the little side-marker lights have chrome surrounds.
2009-chevrolet-malibu-dubai-uae-interior-5
The cabin is more stylish than anything in this class, especially in our orange-black trim. The fair use of soft-touch materials is appreciated, although the finishing inside and out could’ve been a wee bit better. But ultimately everything is solid, maybe even more so than in the exampleswe drove back in June.
2009-chevrolet-malibu-dubai-uae-interior-2
Interesting features include the dual paddles on the steering wheel, a strong USB-ready stereo, and the chromed gauge clusters. One of the buttons on the wheel hints at a Bluetooth phone, but we couldn’t figure out how to activate it, and our test car only came with an Arabic manual. Incidentally, the manual refers to the car as a 2009 model, although we assumed its a 2010, considering its late October launch.
We later found out that it doesn’t come with Bluetooth. The radio reception for faraway stations isn’t too great. The digital a/c is strong, but apparently a dual-zone function is not available either. A Nissan Altima does it all better.
2009-chevrolet-malibu-dubai-uae-interior-1
The supple leather seats have decent bolstering up front. The driver’s is fully powered, while the passenger’s only has a powered bottom. The seats even have a heater function, for those days when you find yourself, and your car, stranded in Ski Dubai. The centre console storage area is useful, with a sliding cover over the cup-holders and a deep cubby under the armrest.
2009-chevrolet-malibu-dubai-uae-interior-3
Rear legroom is very good, though likely not as spacious as the oversized Honda Accord. The lack of a pull-down central armrest means the rear cup-holders pop out near the floor instead, where we would’ve expected the missing rear a/c vents to be.
2009-chevrolet-malibu-dubai-uae-interior-4
The luggage boot is impressively long, but relatively shallow for its class. However, the struts don’t encroach on the space, like the cheap gooseneck hinges do in a Toyota Camry.
2009-chevrolet-malibu-dubai-uae-1
The new ‘Bu is a good effort by GM, does some things very well, while overlooking others. But we loved its upscale design inside and out, and we are sure some on the street thought we were cruising in a luxury sedan. As you’ll read in our upcoming review, it sure drives like one.

Latest Volvo Cars features

When the first XC model from Swedish auto marque Volvo took to the American roads in 1997, sales success and an entirely new Cross Country segment soon followed.

Ten year later, the third-generation XC70 makes its North American debut by rolling into the spotlight at the New York International Auto Show.  The original recipe is still intact, but now Volvo's crossover vehicle has added luxury as well as even greater capabilities for adventure.

The original XC exceeded Volvo's sales expectations largely based on the vehicle's appeal to consumers in the United States.  For them, the XC70 served the functionality of an SUV, while providing the distinctive Volvo feel of a true premium car.  The term "crossover" emerged.

The XC70 badge has retained its power of attraction since introduction with the current generation reaching peak sales over 24,000 in the United States.  "We had a winning concept from the very outset and we have continuously refined it," says Fredrik Arp, president and CEO of Volvo Car Corp.  "The all-new XC70 maintains its tough, capable attitude while at the same time growing more comfortable.  Additionally, our design team has given the vehicle a more elegant, more luxurious look."

Perfect For an Active Lifestyle
Whether it's picking up the kids from school, navigating city traffic for a night on the town, or negotiating the wilderness half way up a mountain, the all-new XC70 is equal to the task.

With an elevated feel and driving dynamics that are exhilarating yet comfortable, the roomy yet luxurious interior of the all-new XC70 is peerless in functional versatility.  Beyond perception and image, the owners of this lifestyle vehicle make their choice of the all-new XC70 because they intend to fully exploit its capabilities.

"The XC70 has primarily been created to get you to the end of the road.  But it has also shown its ability to take you further if you want, or dare, to.  A couple of years ago, we organized a test-drive in the Baja of Mexico on some of the worse 'roads' imaginable - as close to off-road as you could get. Even the most hardened adventurers were impressed by what the XC70 could handle," Arp recalls.

Flexing its muscles still further, the all-new XC70 is available with a 3.2 in-line six-cylinder engine.  In the new model, the electronically controlled all-wheel drive from Haldex of Sweden can be supplemented with a Four-C active chassis, which enables personalization with three distinct driver settings: comfort, sport and advanced.  Also new in this XC70 is an industry world's first height-adjustable booster cushion further enhancing child safety, and a Hill Descent Control feature, ventilated seats and a world-class sound system which contribute to a comfortable and pleasurable driving experience.  These features clearly illustrate the dual personality, and all-around versatility, of the all-new XC70.

An American Love Affair
In the United States, the XC70 has garnered press association awards including Best All-Weather Wagon in New England, Best in Class wins at the Texas Truck Rodeo, Mudfest honors in the Pacific Northwest, and Best Overall Vehicle of the Rockies.

The all-new Volvo XC70 will reach North American dealers in October of this year.

Volvo C70 Convertible Adding Safety and New Technology
 Volvo C70.

Even we forgot about the Volvo C70 convertible, an open-air cruiser we really enjoyed shortly after its introduction back in 1998.A discussion recently ensued as to the merits of various luxury convertibles. Such makes as the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes CLK, Saab 9-3, Ford Thunderbird and Audi A4 Cabriolet were thrown out for deliberation when talking to a couple of people who were in the market for an upscale drop top. Somehow everyone overlooked the Volvo C70, maybe because the coupe version had been dropped after the 2002 model year, perhaps because it is entering its seventh model year with only minor upgrades, and perhaps because Volvo doesn’t spend a lot of time or money promoting it.That recent discussion came to mind the other day when we took delivery of a 2004 C70 Convertible. Despite its age, how could we have forgotten this beautiful hunk of sheetmetal, perhaps the most gorgeous Volvo to ever grace a city street? It may be running on a decade-old platform but it still has a lot going for it in addition to its charming looks. For one thing, Volvo has trimmed the price. That makes the C70 even more provocative. We hope the Swedish car company will not be accused of starting the dreaded deflation Washington economists have been talking about in recent months. Our test car was a High Pressure Turbo model with optional 5-speed automatic transmission and an upgraded stereo system. The bottom line including destination charges was $44,165.The identical car in 2003 guise commanded a list price of $47,725, according to Edmunds.com. The 2004 C70 comes in two trim levels, the LPT or light pressure turbo with a 197-horsepower 5-cylinder engine for a base price of $40,565 with automatic transmission, and the HPT with a 242-horsepower 5-cylinder starting at $42,565 with a manual transmission. For the 44 grand, the C70 with its 2.3-liter 242-horsepower 5-cylinder engine and automatic has a lot to offer. Although the front-driver does display some torque steer and there is a slight turbo lag, the engine will take the car from 0 to 60 in about 6.5 seconds and run through a quarter mile in around 15 seconds. The transmission smoothly ticks through the gears under lead-foot acceleration. The performance matches nicely with such drop top competitors as the Saab 9-3, Mercedes CLK320, Ford Thunderbird and BMW 325i.Where the C70 falters just a bit on its aged platform is in high-speed cornering. Body roll is evident in tight corners. Also the steering lacks the road feel of some of the other European four-place convertibles. But the Volvo tracks nicely and is easy to keep directed in a straight line.To put things in perspective, under normal driving conditions (those employed by 95 percent of the population) torque steer, turbo lag, steering feel and a slightly soft suspension even with its beefy 20mm front and rear stabilizer bars, will never be noticed. The Volvo is more of a beautiful cruiser, perhaps in the vein of the Thunderbird, rather than a sporty machine in the image of the BMW.And there’s certainly nothing wrong with a comfortable, leather-clad, gorgeous convertible that can smoke most of the cars that pull beside it at the stoplight. One downside, and perhaps this is due to the car’s old platform, is more body flex than we’ve become used to in the newer convertibles. Rough pavement or an unsettling set of railroad tracks will create some cowl shake. The top operation is one touch. To get it moving the parking brake must be engaged and the transmission shifter must be in park. It takes about 30 seconds to completely stow the top. With the top up, the C70 has a decent amount of trunk space, 8.1 cubic feet. We didn’t have the opportunity to attempt it, but golf club storage could be a challenge. The instrument panel (IP) is well laid out and switchgear is easy to use. One example of where older is better is the stereo system. It includes an old-fashioned tuning knob and push-button pre-sets for the radio. That’s much better than Volvo’s new radio design where pre-sets must be selected by turning a knob. The only inharmonious note in the IP is a speaker setting up high in the middle of the dash. We never could quite figure that one out. But it’s still there. As in most Volvos, the seats are heavenly. This Swedish company has the right ingredients for making, arguably what may be the best and most comfortable chairs in the business. The back seats are uninhabitable by adults for long drives, but as in most four-place convertibles, they are just fine for short periods of time. A jaunt to a nearby restaurant or the movie or an hour cruising the boulevard on a sunny afternoon should be the limit adults are made to endure in the second row.The C70 is loaded with good stuff. Safety features, aside from the standard expected devises such as dual stage front airbags and Volvo’s famed SIPS and WHIPS (side and whiplash protection systems), include side impact airbags, a rollover protection system, antilock brakes and traction control.Inside, driver and passenger are treated to eight-way power driver and passenger seats, leather seating surfaces, a leather covered tilt and telescoping steering wheel, cruise control, a fully automatic drop top with a glass rear window that has a defroster built-in, dual electronic climate control, 400-watt stereo system with 3-CD changer and 12 speakers, all-window master control switch with auto down, and genuine redwood inlays. With Volvo setting the base price of a well-outfitted C70 just a bit over $40,000, it has made its convertible not only relevant for 2004 but certainly worth a test drive if you’re in the market for a really cool drop top.

The Volvo S60 Concept gives the car world a glimpse of what the all-new Volvo S60 is going to look like when it arrives in 2010.
‘The all-new S60 will be one of the strongest players in a segment where the competition is razor-sharp,’ says Volvo Cars President and CEO Stephen Odell.
The coupe-inspired lines that gave the original S60 its characteristic stance are even more pronounced in the next generation.
‘The sporty design gives visual promise of an enthusiastic drive and I can assure you here and now that the all-new S60 will live up to that promise. The driving properties are better than in any previous Volvo. The car’s technology will also help you to be a better and safer driver,’ says Stephen Odell.
The concept car reveals that the Volvo Cars design team is stepping up to the next level in the development of the products’ DNA.
‘The concept car’s exterior gives a clear indication of what customers can expect of the all-new S60. On the inside we’ve been even more daring – there the focus has been on creating a vision of the future in the slightly longer perspective,’ says Volvo Cars Design Director Steve Mattin.

latest toyota hilux features

Toyota TRD HILUXToyota’s new TRD HiLux sports ute achieves better fuel economy while significantly improving performance compared with the standard vehicle.
TRD chief engineer Stephen Castles said the supercharged TRD HiLux uses a fraction less fuel than the naturally aspirated engine in the HiLux SR5 double cab.
“TRD HiLux is more fuel-efficient while power increases more than 25 per cent and torque by almost 20 per cent,” Mr Castles said.
“The standard HiLux 4.0-litre V6 petrol engine produces maximum torque of 376Nm at 3800rpm, which makes it a terrific workhorse,” he said.
“Our TRD engineers focused on excellent low to mid-range torque to give TRD HiLux even more pulling power.
“In fact, from just above idle right through to around 5700rpm, the TRD HiLux generates more torque than the standard vehicle’s maximum.

the Scion tC quickly became Scion’s top-selling vehicle, at the same time attracting the youngest buyer in the entire industry. Six years later, the second-generation Scion tC emerges with an aggressive new look, increased driving performance, and a more premium feel.

Enhanced performance is accomplished in the second-generation Scion tC with an all-new 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine with dual VVT-i that generates 180 horsepower, 19 more than the previous model, and 11 additional lbs.-ft of torque. In addition to increases in power, the new engine delivers an increase in fuel economy all while lowering emissions. Performance is further improved and heard through a new intake manifold design and a sport-tuned exhaust system that delivers a bold and aggressive sound.
The Scion tC features two all-new transmissions: the six-speed manual transmission has improved shift-feel and adds to the car’s already fun-to-drive character, and a new six-speed automatic gains two gears along with sequential-shift.

The 2011 tC enters its second-generation riding on a new platform, including a specially tuned MacPherson strut front-suspension and a double-wishbone rear-suspension that rides lower than the previous model. Larger 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels are wrapped in wider tires, giving the Scion tC a broader stance and elevated handling characteristics. The new model also comes standard with larger 16-inch disc brakes on all corners. A new performance-tuned electronic power-steering system provides the driver a confident feel that is more in-tune with the road. The elements brought together in the new chassis result in a premium performance that expands the Scion tC into a new dimension of driving enjoyment.
The all-new design of the 2011 Scion tC projects a bolder and more aggressive stance. Important design cues like the helmet-inspired cabin shape were adopted from the Calty-designed Scion FUSE concept, which was unveiled at the 2006 New York Auto Show. The protruding fender flares amplify its wider, lower stance and are aggressively complemented by a sleek front grille and projector headlamps. The shape of the rear taillights flow cleanly into the overall shape of the trunk.
Inside, a driver-focused cockpit starts with a sporty new three-spoke steering wheel that features a flat bottom and a new shape that offers a confident grip. Front seats feature robust bolsters that provide secure positioning while still offering spaciousness and comfort. The instrument-panel, gauge cluster and center-console all face inward in a V-shape, making controls easily accessible.
Overall, the cabin has been lengthened for a more comfortable passenger experience with increased versatility. Utility is enhanced with reclining rear seats that split 60/40, providing more storage capacity. The panoramic moonroof remains standard in the new Scion tC.
The new tC comes standard with an AM/FM/CD/USB audio system that features eight speakers. As with all Scion models, steering-wheel-mounted controls allow the driver to easily navigate through all of their music.
The new Scion tC is also reinforced with key safety features and is expected to achieve top safety ratings. In addition to standard Anti-lock Brakes (ABS), the new Scion tC also gains standard Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), traction control (TRAC), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA). Active front-headrests and eight airbags are also standard, including both driver and front-passenger knee airbags.
